applications can be filed either directly or after a specified period (usually 12 months)
from the date of filing the provisional application.
Non Provisional applications include the invention, formal drawings, and a complete
description of the claims that define the scope of the protection. Unlike a provisional
application, a provisional application is examined by the Patent Office.
